Pray for Tomorrow

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts" Isiah 55:8-9

The procedure will be tomorrow starting sometime between 10 and 12...We have been told it may last 6 hours.

Dr. Chen spent some time with David tonight explaining again what will happen tomorrow during the procedure, and what David will need to conquer upon waking up.

Matt, Kathe and David were able to pray for Dr. Chen, with Dr. Chen, and feel so blessed that he is a great birthday gift from God for David.

At the end of the conversation, Dr. Chen popped his head back into the room just to say "happy birthday" to Dave. We love Dr. Chen.

Speaking of birthday, we had an incredible birthday party for David here in the waiting room. The nurses even told David he was leaving the ICU pod to have an xray done, and instead pushed his bed right out into the waiting room amidst the 75+ people who came to surprise par-tay in his honor.

Much more on the party later - just know it was so special, so so special.

And know that you need to pray tonight for rest, for courage, for crossovers, for faith, for right side, for Dr. Chen, for stamina, for a steady and smooth surgery.

For the energy, strength, perspective, trust and joy that enables us to bless His Name and bring Him praise no matter what.

Big Dave....bet you are still catching some zzzzzz's right now. Me?...man its hard to sleep; I think I ate too much cake at your bday party last pm. I've been thinking about the "gift" you have given many of us these past days....the gift of experiencing what Paul meant when he says to "pray without ceasing". I thought I knew what he meant, BUT after catching this prayer chain ride you've given me, now I really know what that verse means and that it is something quite achievable......"if" you have something in your heart and soul that captures you so. Hey for me, my family and a host of others, that something is you.

Think that sounds a little mushy???......maybe so, but it's the truth. Have a great day today, I'll be keeping you in my prayers....without ceasing!

Dave....good morning, good morning. It's wet here in Hockley. Still dark outside as we near the 6 o'clock hour, but I bet that the energy level is rising in your camp "pod". Family and friends are absorbing their java, they have scanned your blog for glimpses of last night's photo fest, sing-along, smile for the camera, b-day event extraordinaire....but Ellie has some editing to do yet (WOW isn't she knocking out the best blog ever!)I think I'll have to detox when this is all done and you're home banging the drums. Hey, when they do the test this morning show your patented, "cross-over skills"...go ahead and just WOW them, then give them a litle wink and tell Dr. Chenn to "work it". We are all rooting for you, and though it is already commited to the Lord and well in His hands, it feels good to know that He hears the prayers of his adopted, that we have an Intercessor who knows how to convert our pleas before the Throne and that His wonders never cease. Show them, show us all.......your wonder this morning Big Dave. XXXs and OOOs

Well Dave, I'm off to work. And you too will be off to "work" with Dr. Chenn this morning. They say you'll be awake during an early aspect of the procedure just to show him your cross-over skills. Shock and awe him will you!!! I know what the blog says, that he and his wife can "jog" around the rim of the Grand Canyon for a few miles or so, without the aid of an oxygen bottle, and without stopping accept to re-tie an errant shoe lace but come on now....can he do the Cross-Over like you! OK maybe...he IS a phenom, but so are YOU.
Well as I was saying, show him your stuff, then let them put you into lala land, do their magic and then come on out so we can see that classic, quintessential, smilin Dave grin again. It was so great to SEE you last night...you had even the gruffest of bearded males misty-eyed as we circled at the foot of your bed to give you the thumbs up. PS - John Eldridge....you've got nothing on this Band of Brothers in Htown. God speed to you son....see you on the back side. Foz

Dear Bakers, we are praying with you during these challenging days, especially today. Our family is burdened with you -- and also sharing the hope you have in Christ. Asking God for a miraculous intervention, and for His peace which passes understanding.

My prayers continue for David this morning and all the family and all who are in the room with Dr. Chen as he and David and our Father work together for a successful surgery. He is in control. There are been people in my church (First Baptist, Deer Park, TX) lifting David and his situation up to our mighty Father.
I would have liked to have been at the birthday party. Grandpa Carl when I saw him at HMU yesterday invited me, but I will meet you someday, David! The party sounded like it was a big blast!

I lift up my eyes to the hills- Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip -
He who watches over you will not slumber;
Indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you
The LORD is your shade at your right hand;
The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm -
He will watch over your life;
The LORD will watch over your coming and going
Both now and forevermore.
Psalm 121
