Hallelujah, What a Savior!

I'll go out on a limb and say most of us have experienced a powerful season of prayer the past couple of weeks.

Not just prayer for ourselves, but prayers for David, prayers for the Bakers, prayers for God's Name to be glorified most high.

---

There is something about a season like this one, of praying, of suffering, of fearing, of trusting, of waiting, that shakes our focus off of ourselves and onto others...most importantly, onto Jesus.

Jesus, the humble babe born of a virgin, lying in a manger. Jesus, the Son of God, who walked the earth. Jesus, the sacrifice for our sins, who hung on a cross for you and I. Jesus, the Risen Lord, who is alive in Heaven. Jesus, our Savior, our Hope.

Jesus. There's just something about that Name.

---

Glance at the figurines around a "nativity scene"...you probably have one in your home, or if you don't, you'll definitely find one in the mall.

Just look at that scene for a second.

Can you see who everyone's eyes are fixed upon?
Do you see who they are kneeling before? It is Jesus.

---

The past two weeks have been hard. They have been brutal. They have been amazing, too. Most of all, they have been a paradox of at times gentle and at times strong prodding.

A prodding to fix our eyes on Jesus. Yes, during this Christmas season. Yes, always.

---

Imagine how silly a figurine would look, standing at the manger, in front of the Christ-child, distracted by the world. Eyes wandering, thoughts scattering, purpose fidgety.

How silly, shepherds! There is Jesus right in front of you, wise men! You are marveling at a miracle from God, innkeeper!

---

Don't let what you have seen God do in the life of David Baker these past two weeks be a fleeting memory. Let God use the story He let you peak in on to draw you closer to Him. Don't be distracted by the world, by the busyness, by the mundane-ness, by even the gift giving that is upon us.

God is not in the business of miracles for miracles sake. He is in the business of miracles, in the business of the life and death details, to draw attention to Himself, making His Name great...He is in the business of drawing us close to Him, through His Son, Jesus Christ through the ordinary and extraordinary.

---

It's not a fluke that you are witness to this miracle smack dab in the middle of December. It's not an accident that you've refreshed this page a million times in the past two weeks. Don't miss the point. He wants to draw you close. Won't you let Him?

---

Fix your eyes on Jesus this season. Kneel before Him and praise Him for all you have seen Him do.

"My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is His Name."
Luke 1:46, 47, 49

Hallelujah, what a Savior we have!

God of heaven, You descended
For all of our sin and shame
Hands so holy offer healing
For every scar and stain
And we bow down, we bow down

Hallelujah what a Savior
We worship and adore
Hallelujah what a Savior
We glorify the Giver of Life
The Light of the World

Holy King of angel armies
Hanging between two thieves
Holy feet that walk the heavens
Nailed upon a tree
And we bow down, we bow down

Hallelujah what a Savior
We worship and adore
