Surgery Scheduled!

Surgery on the second, smaller but not any less significant than the first, aneurysm has been set...the date is Friday, February 20th.

Mark it on your calendars, because David needs all of you, his prayer warriors, back in full force for this second go around. (He needs you now too!)

This surgery will "look" similar to the first in the sense that it is a brain surgery (not a procedure like the 2nd), David will be in a coma for a couple days after surgery, will have the ventilator again, etc.

This aneurysm is in the center of David's brain - so it will be harder to get to - but we know Who guides Dr. Chen's hands.

Please pray that this aneurysm will not rupture, leak during surgery or damage any of the brain; that the artery will be preserved, and that God protects David from a stroke.

As you can recall, the last hospital stay, though celebratory in moments, and a crazy miracle overall, was rough - read through the December blog posts and it will not be hard to imagine what kind of toll it took on the Baker fam.

Knowing (most of) what lies ahead with another hospital stay, another surgery, another coma, another ventilator, another set of side affects, another time of waiting, another list of daunting possibilities, another waking up process - it can seem overwhelming to have to enter back into that world of day-by-day, moment-by-moment life in the hospital.

As you pray for David, remember to pray for Matt, Kathe, Austin, Lauren, and Barbara too, as they prepare for this next surgery, February 20th.

Pray that the days leading to surgery will be fun, meaningful, restful days - that the whole fam is unified and strong in the Lord as they face the day-by-day, moment-by-moment battle at home NOW, as well as when they enter those hospital doors, and that God would simply be near. That His presence, His nearness, and love and sovereignty and leading and goodness and purposes, even when unknown, would be enough.

The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me;
your love, O LORD, endures forever—
do not abandon the works of your hands.
Psalm 138:8
