The Stormy Stage

The Baker's have been told in the next day or two, and even in the next moments, the pendulum will swing, thus getting the next few days the name: "the stormy stage".

It all has felt a bit more intense than "stormy" thus far, but hearing this, communicates to be "prepared" - and that the next few days could be rough for David.

You may remember that in December, there was a "stormy stage" as well.

But here we are on the other side of that storm...already at the end of February. The storm did not cause us to perish.

How could we not be reminded of this poignant passage of Scripture?

---

Mark 4:35-41

35On that day, when evening came, He (Jesus Christ) said to them, "Let us go over to the other side."

36Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him.

37And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up.

38Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?"

39And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.

40And He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?"

41They became very much afraid and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"

---

Please pray tonight and tomorrow, and okay every minute of every day if you can, that the Bakers would continue to believe and trust that Jesus is in the boat with them. That this Man, God Himself, the Creator and Commander of even the wind and the sea and every brain and every outcome and recovery of every surgery in the world, is with them, is loving them, and is in control.

Tonight, tomorrow, forever.

And please pray that He swings the pendulum back quickly. Because after all, whether the storm is long or short, wearisome or soothing, a surprise or forewarned, He alone keeps it.

Good morning Big Dave,

I'm thinking about a really strong verse, one you've surely and often comes across; John 15:5...."I am the vine and you are the branches. He who abides in Me and I in him, bears much fruit, for without Me you can do nothing."

For me this verse says it all and I need to "rest" in these soothing words as I think of your ongoing recovery. In "my" world, I want you back full swing...Now...up and at it, as if the miracles in your life to date just need to be topped again and again and again. Hey, there's nothing wrong in asking for more from a Lord that has the infinite to give; but I also need to "rest" in Him, abide in Him and let Him decide when and where the fruit will be best unveiled for all to see.

In this resting, I know He will also build my character, strengthen my faith, increase my endurance and widen my arms even more to receive blessings that do spring forth.

In this waiting, in all of our waiting for the "you" of David Baker to come back to us full circle, I realize all the more that it is He that puts the spark of life within our souls, the gleam of His indwelling in our eyes and His invading Spirit in our hearts.

Our bodies are His chosen temple, weak and frail or strong and firm, these vessels He chooses to dwell in. Yet His sprit remains the same in all these stages because It can not be contained or restrained by the flesh.

This morning my prayer is that we all abide close to the Vine, interceding for your recovery David, knowing that His timing and His ways are perfect. May we have His fruits of the Spirit today as we expectantly wait and rest in the Vine.

We love you Dave,

Mr. Foz
